Roof cleaning in the heart of Manchester
Most people picture the city centre as flats and offices, and in the middle they are right. But go a mile or so out and you find terraces and townhouses in Ardwick, Hulme, Ancoats and New Islington, and mews homes around Castlefield. They all get the same Manchester rain, and tight streets with little sun mean roofs stay damp and green.

About Manchester city centre: homes and streets
Manchester city centre has grown faster than anywhere else in the region. In 2001 the Deansgate ward had 2,821 residents. By the 2021 Census it had 13,697, and together with Piccadilly ward the centre now counts 25,360 people in 12,541 households. Around seven in ten of those households rent privately.
Most of that growth is flats. Purpose-built flats make up 86% of homes in Deansgate ward, and houses are under 2% in both central wards. So our work in town is on the pitched roofs: the terraces, townhouses and small blocks in Ancoats, New Islington, Hulme and Ardwick. A lot of it is booked by landlords, freeholders and managing agents rather than the people living there.
The centre is also full of conservation areas, from Castlefield and Ancoats to Stevenson Square, Smithfield and Shudehill. Older buildings often hide pitched roofs and valleys behind parapet walls, and in our experience that is exactly where moss and silt build up without anyone noticing.

For most jobs no. If your street has permit parking we will ask you about a visitor permit when we book, so the van can park close by.
Do I need to be in?
No. We only need access to the outside of the house. Most customers are at work while we clean, and we send photos when we finish.
Is the biocide safe for pets and plants?
Yes, once it has dried. We wet and cover delicate plants, apply it at low pressure onto the roof only, and ask you to keep pets inside while it goes on.
